Enhance Emotional Well-being of the Children
We did our best to make sure children and their families could learn practical psychological skills from every episode. Here are main psychological takeaways from the show.
The main pillars behind the show
Naming the feelings
Ability to recognize and name your emotions is one of the most important skills that a child can learn. Stomp! Stomp! Rhinos! teach this skill in a subtle and engaging way. Together with little Rhinos, children learn to name various emotions and understand the reasons why characters feel this way.
Teaching families how handle challenging moments
Child needs connection before correction”. Rhino family understand that very well. When one character feels overwhelmed by big feelings, the family react with empathic atmosphere. We teach parents, siblings, teachers and everyone else how to provide loving support to children during the hard moment. All emotions are welcome but not all behaviors are welcome - We teach this message to all the families.
Take a pause to regulate yourself
That’s probably the most special aspect of our show. When the character feels overwhelmed by emotion, Rhino family encourage them to take a pause and regulate the emotional state. Only after the emotion is regulated-when the mind is clear and calm-does the character return to solving problems or playing games. That is highly valuable skill for every family. Science shows the benefits of the ability to take pauses for emotional regulation.
Various emotional regulation techniques
Everyone is different and there’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to methods of emotional regulation. That’s why we included various types of emotional regulation. Some kids love to have physical movement to discharge strong feelings. Some kids benefit from slow breathing. Some kids enjoy relaxing drawing techniques or simple mindfulness exercises. We included them all. Our biggest hope is that every child could explore various options and recognize the ones that work best for them. And the parents could learn too.
