About the show and the stories
Bobo the tortoise sometimes joins their adventures. Amidst their hobbies, emotions can quickly escalate, but parents, and sometimes Noah, help calm the children with techniques like deep breathing. Once calm, they can resume their fun and learning.
Characters slider
Ron
Ron is the most relaxed and easy going of the Rhino siblings. Although Ron enjoys his toy cars (he has an entire collection under his bed), he isn’t overly passionate about them. He just enjoys being in the moment and can often be found lying in the grass, looking at clouds. Ron is a very physical kid. He loves sports. He’s fast, and constantly competing with Ela in running, jumping and playing ball. When Ron comes up with a project to do, he feels very proud of himself. But, when the project doesn’t turn out to be as easy to do as he expected, he can get very frustrated and angry.
Noah
Noah is the eldest child. Now that he is seven, he likes to show his younger siblings how things are done. He’s very passionate about learning. When Noah finds a topic he's curious about, he really digs into it. That’s why his room is filled with books. He knows more about dinosaurs, bugs and the solar system than anyone in the family. Noah is a very happy kid. He laughs when an idea pops into his head and he jumps up and down when he learns something new. He likes to share, and he likes to create projects that bring the whole family together. He is very organized and results oriented. When his plans are questioned or a project fails, Noah can become angry.
Ela
Ela is sweet and charming. She loves to sing and dance and to play her toy flute. She can often be found in her room, rehearsing a made-up routine in front of her much-loved audience of rhino dolls. But her absolute favourite thing is to take her performance downstairs into the living room, and have the whole family watch her “opening night.” Ela loves sharing her talents with others and uses every possible chance to make a big impression. But, when Ela feels left out or ignored, she can get angry.
Dad
Although Rhino Dad is a heavy equipment driver, he has a flexible schedule that allows him to be at home more than most parents. Dad is very curious and enjoys research and investigation, as well as keeping things organized. He has a workshop in the garage where he likes to tinker and invent new contraptions. He looks after family safety and happily takes on all the handyman issues for the house. Dad loves it when Mom or one of the kids has an idea for a project that needs his construction expertise. Rhino Dad possesses a high level of emotional intelligence and, like Rhino Mom, is quick to recognize the emotional states of his children. He is also very sensitive and doesn’t mind sharing or showing his feelings.
Mom
Rhino Mom is a fashion designer who has a home studio. She is cheerful, empathetic and clever. She is also very spontaneous and loves to come up with new games for the children to play. Rhino Mom also believes her children should have a strong sense of independence. This is why she encourages them to come up with new play patterns or to find their own solutions to childhood challenges. When they succeed, she is quick to give praise. When they need support, she’s always there to help them think things through. Rhino Mom is very good at recognizing her children’s moods and helping them learn to recognize their feelings.
Bobo
Bobo is a tortoise, about the size of a baseball mitt and the family’s most recent addition. He is friendly and curious and at times, appears to take an interest in the children’s games. However, he would usually prefer to be doing turtle-y things, like napping and eating lettuce. The children find him a calming presence in their lives and treat him with care
Dina
Giraffe Dina is the best friend of the little ones. She is 7 years old, just like Noah. She lives in the house next door. Dina is a gardener. She has a lovely garden in her yard, where together with her mother she grows vegetables and flowers. Dina is also very artistic. She always has artistic activity ideas which little rhinos adore. Although she seems so beautiful in her comfort zone - her garden, her artistic room, neighbour rhino house, she might have challenges in other environments like school. That's because she is more sensitive than the average child. She has a bit of an anxious personality, often hesitant, shy.
Educational aspect of the show
In "Stomp! Stomp! Rhinos!", we advocate a "time in" approach to anger management, acknowledging and relieving feelings through simple techniques. This fosters healthy emotional relationships, with family support during tough moments. Success comes from regulating these emotions. Co-creator Rugile Kazlauskiene compares it to accepting rain: you can't stop it, but you can cope.
